Menadel
Work & Liberation
“Head / Identity” is the letter’s — not a sound but a working force, what this letter does when it appears in a name or a gate.

The four numbers above are the page’s working, shown so the reading can be checked rather than taken on trust. The solar degree is an average Sun moving at a constant pace, not the real one — the measured position lives on the Clock Stack, where the two can be compared side by side.

Where does the idea of a birthday angel come from?
The belief that every person has a spirit assigned to watch over them is far older than any table on this page. Greek philosophers spoke of a personal daimon — Socrates claimed his warned him whenever he was about to make a mistake — and Romans honoured a guardian genius born alongside each person. Hebrew scripture describes angels charged with keeping people safe on their way, the Gospel of Matthew mentions angels belonging to individual children, and from there the entered Christian teaching, eventually earning its own feast day (October 2 in the Catholic calendar). What all of these share is the old intuition this page plays with: that care from the unseen world is personal, not general.
The specific names used here come from the , a tradition of that finds seventy-two three-letter names of God woven into three consecutive verses of Exodus — each verse containing exactly seventy-two Hebrew letters. Add a divine ending, -el or -iah, to each and you get seventy-two angel names. The letter-by-letter construction is worked through in the drawers on the Zodiac Wheel page.
Turning those names into a birthday calendar is a much younger move. Because 360 ÷ 72 = 5, each angel was matched to five degrees of the zodiac — a — and, by extension, to roughly five days of the year; the printed tables most modern books copy trace back to nineteenth-century French Kabbalists, above all Lenain's La Science Cabalistique (1823). The idea that you have three of them — a physical angel from your birth date, a heart angel from a rotating cycle, a soul angel from your birth time — is younger still: it is usually traced to twentieth-century French occultism, especially Robert Ambelain's La Kabbale Pratique (1951), and was spread by later popular writers. Different books draw the five-day boundaries a day or two apart, which is exactly why two published tables can disagree about the same date — as the notes in “How this works” above honestly report about this page's own two tables.
Everything else on the guardian card — choir, archangel, tarot, incense, stone, frequency — is a correspondence layer added by later tradition, not something the Exodus verses say. The nine come from a ranking of angels written down around the fifth century; each angel traditionally also carries a verse from the Psalms used to call on it; the tarot pairings are a nineteenth-century addition; and no text before the modern era assigns a frequency in to an angel — that layer is contemporary. None of this makes the layers useless: correspondence is how this whole system thinks, one symbol indexing another so each can be read through all the rest. But it is interpretation stacked on interpretation, and the honest way to hold it is this — the arithmetic (seventy-two names, five degrees each, 360 in all) is exact; every quality hung on it is inherited tradition and editorial choice.
