The Hand

The mounts of the palm are named for the seven classical planets — and in this system each of those planets already carries one of the seven Double letters. Read the hand and you are reading the alphabet.

Palmistry in plain words

Everything below asks about your mounts — the fleshy pads of the palm, each named for a planet. Here is the whole map first, so you always know what you are looking at.

HeartHeadLifeDestinyJupiterSaturnApollo(Sun)MercuryMarsVenusLuna(Moon)seven mounts, one planet each — the four lines in violet

Schematic, not a photograph of anyone's hand — real lines wander. Mark a mount below and it lights up here; mark it flat and it dims.

What each mount means, one line each
Jupiter (under the index finger) — ambition and leadership — the wanting-to-lead pad
Saturn (under the middle finger) — duty, seriousness, structure — the responsibility pad
Apollo (Sun) (under the ring finger) — creativity and shine — the wanting-to-be-seen pad
Mercury (under the little finger) — wit, trade, communication — the quick-words pad
Venus (the ball of the thumb) — warmth, appetite, love of life — the biggest pad on most hands
Luna (Moon) (the opposite heel of the palm) — imagination, intuition — the dreaming side
Mars (the middle band between them) — courage and temper — the fighting spirit
Raised / firm
that planet's energy is abundant in you — sometimes overflowing
Flat
that energy runs quieter — you borrow it deliberately when you need it
Over-developed
the shadow side takes over — Jupiter's ambition turns to arrogance, Mars's courage to temper
The four lines, in one line each
Heart line (the top line, running under the fingers) — how you love and what the heart needs
Head line (the middle line, crossing the palm) — how you think and decide
Life line (the curve around the ball of the thumb) — vitality and the shape of your energy — NOT the length of your life. That is the number-one myth in palmistry: a short life line says nothing about lifespan.
Destiny (Fate) line (vertical, up the center — not everyone has one) — the career current — how directed a life feels; having none just means a life steered by many currents
Your seven mounts

Palm up under a lamp. Judge each pad against the others on the same hand. Mark at least four and your reading appears below — 0 of 7 marked.

Mount of JupiterBase of the index fingerJupiter · Kaf · Chesed

Reading that line: this pad is named for Jupiter, the planet carries the letter כ Kaf — the palm of the hand, cupped to hold or receive, and that letter sits at Chesed on the Tree of Life.

Mount of SaturnBase of the middle fingerSaturn · Tav · Binah

Reading that line: this pad is named for Saturn, the planet carries the letter ת Tav — the mark, the seal, the final letter, and that letter sits at Binah on the Tree of Life.

Mount of Apollo (Sun)Base of the ring fingerSun · Resh · Tiphereth

Reading that line: this pad is named for Sun, the planet carries the letter ר Resh — the head, and that letter sits at Tiphereth on the Tree of Life.

Mount of MercuryBase of the little fingerMercury · Bet · Hod

Reading that line: this pad is named for Mercury, the planet carries the letter ב Bet — the house, the container, the first structure built to hold the breath of aleph, and that letter sits at Hod on the Tree of Life.

Mount of VenusBase of the thumb, encircled by the Life LineVenus · Dalet · Netzach

Reading that line: this pad is named for Venus, the planet carries the letter ד Dalet — the door, and that letter sits at Netzach on the Tree of Life.

Mount of the MoonOuter edge of the palm, opposite the thumbMoon · Gimel · Yesod

Mount of MarsBetween the thumb and Jupiter mount, and along the outer palm edgeMars · Peh · Geburah

Reading that line: this pad is named for Mars, the planet carries the letter פ Peh — the mouth, and that letter sits at Geburah on the Tree of Life.

The three sections of every finger

Classical palmistry divides each finger into three, tip to base. The corpus divides every letter the same way. It is the same ladder read on two different objects.

Divine
the tip section
what the finger reaches toward — its ideal.
Intellectual
the middle section
how it is thought about, planned, reasoned.
Natural
the base section
how it is actually lived, in the body and in daily appetite.
The lines, for reading by eye
Life Line · Vitality & Life Force

Curves around the base of the thumb, tracing the arc of the Venus mount. Governs physical vitality, major life transitions, and the body's relationship to change — NOT lifespan, a common myth this system does not endorse.

Deep: Strong constitutional vitality and resilience through change.
Faint: Sensitivity to environment; vitality that needs conscious tending.
Broken: A major life rupture or reinvention point — not a warning, a marker of transformation.
Head Line · Mind & Reasoning

Runs horizontally across the palm below the fingers. Governs thinking style, focus, and how you process the world — the mental counterpart to the Heart Line below it.

Deep: Clear, focused, decisive thinking.
Faint: A mind that moves fast between ideas; needs anchoring practices.
Broken: A significant shift in worldview or mental framework at some point in life.
Heart Line · Emotion & Connection

The uppermost horizontal line, closest to the fingers. Governs emotional expression, capacity for intimacy, and how love is given and received.

Deep: Strong emotional resilience and clear expression of feeling.
Faint: Emotions processed internally rather than shown outwardly.
Broken: A significant emotional rupture and repair — the heart re-learning trust.
Fate Line · Purpose & Direction

Runs vertically up the centre of the palm (not present on every hand — its absence is common and simply means direction is self-authored rather than felt as destined).

Deep: A strongly felt sense of vocation or life direction.
Faint: Direction that is chosen and rebuilt continually rather than fixed.
Broken: A major course-correction in life direction — a career or purpose pivot.
The Grand Man — the zodiac across the body

The oldest of these correspondences: each sign rules a region of the body, head to feet, in the order of the zodiac. It is the same descent the Tree describes, laid on a person instead.

All twenty-two letters in their three degrees · the full table

The hand reaches only the seven Doubles, because only those carry planets. But the three-degree reading covers the whole alphabet. Divine is what the letter is at its height, Intellectual how it is understood, Natural how it shows up in ordinary appetite — the same ladder as the three sections of a finger.

What this is, plainly

A guided self-assessment, not a photograph analyser — you are judging your own hand and the reading follows from your judgement. Palmistry is a symbolic tradition. It says nothing about your health, your lifespan or any fact about your future, and the line around your thumb is not a clock. Nothing here is medical advice.
