Offer your name, birth date & time — the system reads you: your numbers (master-preserving), your three with their light & shadow, and your letter-field. Nothing leaves your device — the details are saved in this browser only, never uploaded, and the “Forget my details” button on the Begin page erases them.

What do “master-preserving”, “guardian angels” and “letter-field” mean?

Three words in that sentence are doing a lot of work. Master-preserving means that when your numbers add up to 11, 22 or 33 they are left standing instead of being squashed down to 2, 4 or 6 — those three are held to be different in kind, so the page prints both, as 22/4. Guardian angels here are the three of whose slices of the year your birth falls in, each found a different way. Letter-field is your name written back into the , sound by sound. Every one of them is unpacked again where it appears below.

Where do the 72 angels — and these numbers — come from?

The seventy-two names are drawn from three consecutive verses of the Book of Exodus (14:19–21), each of which contains exactly seventy-two Hebrew letters in the traditional text. Medieval read the three verses as a weave — the first in order, the second reversed, the third in order again — so that taking one letter from each verse produces seventy-two three-letter roots. This is the , the “explicit name.” Adding one of two divine endings, -el or -iah, turns each root into an angel’s name — which is why the angel names you meet on this site end in one of those two sounds.

Laying the names around the circle of the year came later. Renaissance and nineteenth-century occultists — among them — gave each name one five-degree slice of the zodiac, a , since seventy-two such slices make exactly 360°. The idea that the angel of your birth slice is your is a modern devotional practice built on that wheel, not something the medieval sources spell out; the habit of reading three guardians — one for the body, one for the heart, one for the mind — belongs to those modern lineages too. This page inherits the practice and shows all three methods in the open, so you can see exactly how each angel was chosen.

The number side has a similar shape: an old core with a modern face. — letters doubling as numbers — is genuinely ancient: Hebrew had no separate numerals, so every word was already a sum, and rabbinic literature reads words by their totals. The letter-charts used for names in English are much younger: the chart (A=1 through I=9, repeating) was formalized in the early twentieth century, invoking the school of Pythagoras as its inspiration, and the chart, which groups letters by sound and holds 9 apart, advertises Mesopotamian roots though its published form is also modern.

None of this is astronomy or measurement making claims about you. It is a symbolic tradition — a long habit of reading letters, numbers and the turning year as one alphabet — and the site treats it that way throughout: the same twenty-two letters that respell your name below also build , and the same five-degree slices that pick your angels here run through every angel page on the site. What is history is presented as history, and what is interpretation is labeled as interpretation.

Beginner or Adept — what changes?

Beginner spells the reading out in sentences. Adept keeps the sentences short and adds the extra columns — the tarot trump on every letter, and the meaning printed under every number rather than only the . Same calculation either way; only how much is written out changes.
