♄ Astrology Multi-System Plug-in

The same birth moment, read through four coordinate systems side by side — , , Draconic, and Heliocentric — each with its own house-system options and the letter/ overlay per placement. Nothing leaves your device — your details are kept only in this browser's saved profile, which you can erase at any time.

Why four versions of the same sky?

In plain words: astrologers do not all agree on where the zodiac starts. This page does not pick a winner — it works out where the seven planets stood at your birth minute and then shows you that same sky four times, once under each convention, so you can see for yourself how much the answer depends on the ruler being used. A coordinate system is just where you decide to put zero.

How many hours your birth clock was from London time. New York in winter is −5, in summer −4; India is 5.5. It converts your local hour into the one hour the sky was actually at.

How far north of the equator, in degrees; negative for south. It tilts the horizon, which is what the house boundaries are cut against.

How far east or west, in degrees; negative for west. The Earth turns 15° an hour, so this is what fixes which part of the sky was overhead.

Runs entirely in your browser on lightweight astronomical approximations — good for symbolic and relational study, not a substitute for a professional . What you enter is saved in this browser only — never uploaded — so every instrument on the site can share it, and the Forget my details button erases it whenever you like.

Where does astrology come from?

The zodiac is Babylonian. Astrology began in Mesopotamia as omen-reading — priests watching the sky for signs addressed to the king and the kingdom, not to individuals. Somewhere around the fifth century BCE, Babylonian astronomers divided the Sun's yearly path — — into twelve equal segments of thirty degrees each, named after nearby constellations. That equal twelve-fold cut is the zodiac this page still uses: a measuring ring laid over the sky, not the constellations themselves, which are all different sizes and always were.

The birth chart came later, and from a meeting of cultures. In Egypt under Greek rule, in the last few centuries BCE, Babylonian arithmetic met Greek geometry and Egyptian temple religion, and out of that mix came horoscopic astrology — a chart cast for the minute of a single person's birth. Its anchor was the degree rising in the east at that minute, which the Greeks called the horoskopos, "hour-marker" — the word that became horoscope. Houses, aspects, and most of the toolkit astrologers still use descend from that synthesis; it was kept alive and sharpened by Persian and Arabic astronomers through the Middle Ages and returned to Europe through their translations.

The four tabs on this page exist because of a slow wobble. The Greek astronomer Hipparchus noticed, in the second century BCE, that the equinox point drifts backwards against the stars — , about one degree every seventy-two years. Western astrology anchored its zodiac to the seasons and let the stars drift (the tropical zodiac); Indian astrology anchored to the stars and let the seasons drift (the sidereal). After two thousand years the two rulers sit roughly twenty-four degrees apart — nearly a whole sign — which is why one birth can be "a Leo" under one and "a Cancer" under the other. Neither is broken; they measure from different zeros. Draconic and heliocentric are two further re-zeroings, one to the Moon's node and one to the Sun itself.

Where this joins the rest of the site: the , the old Hebrew Book of Formation this whole system is built on, assigns its to the twelve signs and its to the seven classical planets — and later matched the planets to stations on the . That is why every placement card below carries a letter chip and a sefirah chip. Manuscript versions of the Sefer Yetzirah differ on some of the exact pairings; the fixed table this site uses is laid out on the Correspondences page. And to keep the voice honest: none of this is physics or prediction. The planet positions here are astronomy; everything laid over them — signs, houses, letters, sefirot — is a symbolic language, and reading it is interpretation, offered as such.
